Sunday May 28th, 11:30 - 13:30 - Postponed due to  potential disturbance of Mute Swan cygnets

Plastic waste is one of the biggest challenges facing our planet today. To tackle this problem we will be joining Thames21 in a Plasticblitz event – litter picking in the Deptford Creek. The Plasticblitz is annual event where community groups and the Environment Agency teams do the litter pick and collect the data about plastic waste.

The event has three key aims.

First, to complete a catchment-wide clean-up of plastic pollution.

Second, to collect data on the most common plastic items found, and the areas where plastic pollution is most problematic. This data could be used to educate groups, create publicity and lobby for change.

Finally, to join up multiple community groups, amplifying their voices and helping them share ideas.

Join us on Sunday the 28th for a stroll down the Creek to learn more about plastic pollution and its impact on rivers.

The event is part of the new river conservation series -  Don't Rubbish Deptford Creek!

Please allow about 2 hours for the event.

Waders, mud sticks, bin bags and gloves are provided.

Perfect activity for children 8+

To ensure this activity is accessible to all it is free to join. If you can afford to make an additional donation with your ticket booking please do so. All funds go towards our education and conservation activities.

This session is part of our "Don't Rubbish Deptford Creek!" series of river conservation events.
