Local Wildflowers: Sue Godfrey Nature Park - Tuesday 25th June 2024
Tuesday 25th June, 18:00 - 19:30
Get ready for a petal-packed adventure, a trio of walks looking at the wildflowers of local places in Deptford.
Local Wildflowers
A trio of walks looking at wildflowers of local places. The first will be looking at the grounds of the Creekside Centre the most diverse site for its size in inner London. The second will be walking around Sue Godfrey Nature Park in its 40th anniversary year. Last but not least, a land-based walk around the Creek. Find out about your your local wildflowers and what we do to conserve them. We will also continue the Whole Wild World Walks theme earlier this year.
Sue Godfrey Nature Park
The park was established in 1984 through the keen interest of local residents and Lewisham Council's landscaping section. It has had a chequered history over the decades, the most traumatic event being the decontamination of the site, which happened in 2003/4. The nature park has been managed by Creekside Education Trust on behalf of Lewisham Council's Nature Conservation section since 2007. Most of the work is on managing habitats and controlling litter. In recent years we have raised additional funding through local residents and grants to work to improve the site's diversity of local wildflowers in this challenging environment.
Join us for a look at the local wildflowers living here from around the world and find out how we manage them.
