Family Low Tide Walk (8+) - Saturday 3rd May 2025

Join us for an adventurous walk along a London river bed, in this new activity! Through fun, child focused activities, our informative guides will help young people (and their accompanying adults!) explore the unique urban environment of Deptford Creek. River dip with nets to meet the wildlife beneath the surface, play nature detective to tune into the life of the creek, and complete the walk to get your River Walking Licences.

Family Low Tide Walks are a newly-designed activity specifically tailored to engage young people, nurturing and celebrating their curiosity for the world around them. Participants will develop deeper connections to the natural world, increase their understanding of local eco-systems, and build confidence in outdoor activities. 

This activity takes about 2 hours. This includes putting on waders and preparing for the river, walking up and back down the river, river dipping for wildlife, and washing waders and hands after the walk. Please arrive promptly for the time stated on the event.

Waders and mud sticks are provided. Please dress and prepare appropriately for the weather forecast on the day of your visit: Greenwich Met Office

Only children aged 8 and above can attend a Family Low Tide Walk. 

This activity is designed primarily with 8-14 year olds in mind. Ages 15+ (including accompanying adults) will find plenty to interest them, and we ask that you tune into your own child-like curiosity, whilst allowing space for the walk leader to engage with younger participants. 

Please Note:

• This is not a drop-off activity. We require 1 adult to attend per 2 children. 
• If you have any questions about accessibility, please contact us before booking a Family Low Tide Walk. We aim to cater for as many people as possible, but participants must be able to wear our waders and walk for up to an hour.
• At least one child must be part of any group that attends. If you’re an adult or group of adults, we’d love you to join one of our Low Tide Walks.
