Environmental Learning Network (for school staff) - Wednesday 9th July 2025
Wednesday 9th July, 16.00-17.45
This event is for teachers and school staff interested in promoting environmental and outdoor learning in schools. We want to support schools to connect young people (and the wider school community!) with the outdoors. Join us for a relaxing evening to reflect on the school year with some free refreshments!
This is the third of 3 sessions, where we aim to facilitate a welcoming space for school staff. If you are passionate about the environment and promoting environmental learning in your school please join us! If you have a leadership role for sustainability, outdoor learning, forest school, trips, or any other areas that link with learning outside the classroom this is the event for you. Or if you're a classroom teacher who would like to develop their knowledge and skills in engaging with outdoor learning then come along too!
In this session we will spend some time in and around Creekside Discovery Centre. As an example of how to connect with nature inside the classroom, we'll guide you through mounting a herbarium specimen - an activity perfect for all ages! We'll also reflect on the purpose of a learning network and consider what the best format for activities like this might be moving forward. You can:
- Meet like minded others from neighbouring local schools
- Share good practice
- Discuss outdoor learning with Creekside staff
- Develop your knowledge of local ecology and history
To register for free please complete this short form - https://forms.office.com/e/RAfb2UpWLQ
We hope to continue this network in the future, and participants input is vital to do so - if you have something you want to learn more about, some good practice you'd like to share with others, or a discussion you'd like to facilitate, please come to this session and speak to Creekside staff to see how this might be possible in future sessions!
This event is made possible by funding from Deptford Challenge Trust.
