Change & Adapt Wildlife Walk - Saturday 15th March 2025
Saturday, 15th March, 10:30 - 12:30
The theme of British Science Week this year is 'Change and Adapt'. Deptford's wildlife is adapting to environmental change. Plants are flowering earlier, birds are breeding earlier. New species are constantly colonising in response to the climate crisis, the changing nature of pollution and cultural changes in what we do. Species that died out in the past are returning as some conditions change for the better. The walk will look at some of the changes as they are happening.
For example, Sweet Violet, which is a new species to go wild in Deptford this century, as are Rue-leaved Saxifrage and Whitlow Grass.
